3 Powerful Reasons to Consider Investing in Solar Energy for your New Home

By Mike Wheatley | April 21, 2016

Investing in a new home means starting fresh. One of the best fresh ideas is low energy costs. In some parts of the world, the sun shines 360 days per year, and, in other parts, at least 50 percent of that time. What are we waiting for?

3+Powerful+Reasons+to+Consider+Investing+in+Solar+Energy+for+your+New+Home

I want a dependable energy source for my home.

Dependability depends upon consistency. Solar energy is considered renewable, as it can be used to produce electricity for as long as the sun burns. If you are planning to utilize this form of energy, you might want to visit The Solutions Project homepage for more info. Although the sun does not strike the earth at night, it can be used over and over during the day. Solar battery chargers can provide 24-hour, uninterrupted energy via storage batteries that save several days or weeks of solar power when the sun is not shining directly. Residential solar energy frees a household from storm blackouts and other inconveniences of traditional power sources.

Fossil fuel power is reliable, but costly per month. The development of alternative energy was largely squeezed out by the boom in fossil fuel sources, so solar energy power was essentially a dream for many years. Thirty years ago, during the 1973-74 oil embargo, solar energy made a leap, and practical solar cells were born. People began realizing that fossil fuel dependency comes with a price: sustainability and the cost of access. Certain parts of the world were being left behind, due to cost factors and impracticality of the grid system needed to access the first world's advantages. Solar power gives the average Westerner and undeveloped countries another choice for energy and its conveniences.

I wish to live off the grid, in a remote area.

The beauty of solar energy is that a home needn't be connected to a traditional grid of power. Solar panels come in a variety of sizes to fit into almost any space imaginable. In fact, the country of India, with its remote rural landscape, is becoming a world producer of PV modules. They plan to light up 100,000 remote villages and install solar telephones in 500,000 villages. Mexico is close, with plans to electrify 60,000 towns via the sun.

Solar power is just as sensible in developed areas as remote. Alternative Energy reports that roof area on the average home has more than enough space to install adequate solar panels for all its energy needs. An inverter will convert the direct solar current to alternating current. Most home appliances run on alternating current, so a solar-powered home can run and look much like the grid-powered home next door.

I want something easy to install.

That is one of the beauties of solar panels. Solar panels don't require the traditional cords, wires or power source. Solar panels are the source. Wind power is connected to a generator and geothermal power stations need to be tied to drilling machines. Solar panels can be installed wherever and whenever the need arises, so there is no need to be involved in a big project. People in countries like India sell solar panels of various sizes in bazaars, and people purchase as needed. In the United States, people may hire residential solar panel farmers to install panels.

Solar cells require little maintenance and deliver energy for a long time. They create no noise and no pollution. Once installed, recurring costs are practically nil. Costs of installation can be recovered in approximately 10-15 years of energy independence in the U.S. Solar energy produces no pollutants and is a very clean energy source. Solar energy has powered the earth since its inception. At the beginning of time, the sun converted green plants via photosynthesis into the fossil fuels we use today.

The sun is a very exciting source of renewable energy with an unlimited field. Tax incentives and innovative new technology make investing in solar energy for your home the perfect decision.
