5 of the Best Cities for Talented Kids & Their Families to Live in

By Hannah Whittenly | January 12, 2017

Talent comes in all shapes and sizes, and some kids are naturally born to shine. If you are the parent of a talented child, you might be tempted to move to a city where you can help foster his or her abilities. The following five cities are among the best places for talented kids.

Los Angeles, CA: Acting

The “City of Angels” has long been the epicenter for actors who are trying to break into the entertainment industry. Los Angeles is home to countless agents and talent managers who are always looking for children with a natural gift for acting. If you choose to move here, you can take your child to open casting calls and hire an acting coach. You may also want to consider having your child do some work as a background actor (also known as an extra) as a way to get a better feel for the industry.

New York, NY: Dancing

Dancers are always in demand in New York City for musicals, ballets and other stage productions. Many productions have a need for young dancers, and your child may fit perfectly into this niche if he or she has the right moves. Your child may even be talented enough to eventually study at the Julliard School or another prestigious dance institution in NYC. Tallahassee, FL: Football

If your child shows aptitude on the football field, a move to Tallahassee may be in your near future. This city is home to Lincoln High School, which is famous for its football team and is the alma mater of some of the NFL’s top players. Upon entering college, your child might even be good enough to play for Florida State’s Seminoles football team and eventually get drafted into the NFL.

Dallas, TX: Gymnastics

The DFW area is a hotbed for gymnastics talent, and you can enroll your child in one of the local prestigious gyms to study with some of the best trainers. Dallas is also not too far from the famous Karolyi Ranch, which has prepared Team USA’s top female gymnasts for Olympic competition.

Colorado Springs: Figure Skating

If your son or daughter can jump, spin and turn on the ice with ease, you may want to consider moving to Colorado Springs to work with some of the top figure skating coaches. Colorado Springs is home to the World Ice Hall at the Broadmoor World Arena, which is the training ground for national, world and Olympic competitors.

Before moving to any one of these cities, make sure that your child is up to the challenge. Take him or her there to meet with potential coaches and to have their skills evaluated. A lot of people think that their kids are great, but an unbiased coach will be able to tell you if your child has what it takes to compete in these great cities. After getting evaluated, you can pack up your Bekins Van Lines Inc truck or whichever other moving truck you’ll be using and head off to your new adventure.

Moving to a new city is a huge commitment, but the time and sacrifice may be worth it if you have a child who demonstrates a high degree of talent. Whether your child is destined to become a future movie star, premier dancer or elite athlete, moving to any of these cities can point your son or daughter in the right direction.
