Business-focused media organization Crain has just named property restoration, disaster loss recovery, and multifamily renovation firm Response Team 1 in the top five of its Chicago Business “Fast 50” list of companies. The list is designed to highlight what Crain’s says are the top fifty fastest-growing companies in the Chicago area, and Response Team 1 came in at number five overall, based on its whopping 2,982 percent growth over the last five years.
Crain’s Chicago Business renews its fast 50 list on an annual basis, ranking Chicago companies according to their revenue gains over a five year consecutive period. It takes into account both total revenues and also revenue growth.
Response Team 1’s CEO and Chairman John M. Goense said the company’s strategy aimed at expanding its national presence while also maintaining its position as the country’s leading property restoration and multifamily renovation firm was central to its astonishing growth.
“Our success since our founding in 2010 is a result of the talent, dedication and hard work of our employees and our goal to provide optimal customer service to clients,” Goense said. “We’ve also made a series of astute acquisitions as part of our expansion strategy to foster this growth.”

Based in Wheeling, Illinois, Response Team 1 is generally held to be the second largest property restoration and multifamily renovation firm in the U.S., with more than 49 strategic offices located nationwide. The company possess both the expertise and capacity to restore single family and commercial buildings in the fastest time frame possible. In addition, it can renovate properties from coast-to-coast in rapid quick time.
More than 110 Chicago firms were evaluated for this year’s Fast 50, Crain’s said. Only companies in the six-county area of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will in Illinois, plus Lake County in Indiana, with 2015 revenues of at least $15 million, were eligible.
