Juniper Square is hoping to muscle in on the commercial real estate investment game with a new online service for individual investors.
Juniper Square’s service, which has been trialled by major investment companies like Beacon Capital, The Reliant Group, and Cortland Partners, has just become generally available. The service aims to provide a easier, more modern way for investors to manage their workflow, with tools for managing initial fundraising as well as the actual investments. As such, it doubles as a kind of accounting and CRM tool all in one.
In an interview with TechCrunch, Juniper Square CEO Alex Robinson points out that many investors are still relying on pen, paper and Microsoft Excel to keep track of their investments, and as a result are not seeing the digital transformation that’s embedded itself into other parts of the industry.
But the companies that were testing Juniper Square for the last two years used the platform to manage more than $25 billion in investment capital.
Robinson told TechCrunch that his company has been backed by a number of well known tech investors, but refused to disclose who they were.
Doug Abbey, Chairman of Swift Real Estate and Juniper Square customer and advisory board member, said, “Having recently raised two funds at Swift, I can say that limited partners are increasingly choosing general partners with a focus on their reporting and operations. Juniper Square helps us respond to these increasing demands, and its value proposition is pretty simple: it saves time, it saves money, and our investors love it.”
Confirming this trend, in its 2016 Global Private Equity Fund and Investor Survey, EY found a “seismic shift” in the importance of reporting when investors select a manager, stating, “In just one year, we see a 400% increase in investors that now rank a private equity firm’s ability to handle reporting requirements as the most important when selecting a firm.”
Juniper Square’s modern, easy-to-use software helps real estate sponsors of all sizes respond to the growing demands of the industry. Whether the challenge is seamlessly managing relationships with thousands of individual investors, or meeting sophisticated institutional reporting needs, Juniper Square enables real estate firms to focus on the real estate instead of the back office.
