Juniper Square raises $6M to grow its real estate investment platform

By Mike Wheatley | February 5, 2018

Real estate investment technology company Juniper Square has raised $6M in Series A funding led by Felicis Ventures, with participation by strategic investors from the real estate industry. This investment brings total equity funding  to $8M. The company plans to use the funds to accelerate product development and expand its team to serve the needs of a growing customer base.

Founded in 2014, Juniper Square is transforming the private funds industry with modern, easy-to-use software that automates one of the most critical business functions for investment managers: raising and managing outside capital.

Over the last twelve months, Juniper Square has more than quadrupled both revenue and assets managed through the platform. In that time, more than 100 real estate managers have switched their private equity fund operations to Juniper Square. The company's customers now use Juniper Square to service more than 50,000 investors, manage more than 3,000 investments, and track nearly $200B of real estate assets.

"Commercial real estate is a multi trillion dollar industry with over 30,000 investment firms, yet very few of them use software to run their investment operations. We saw a company with a big vision for a future of investments powered by software, that was growing exceptionally quickly, with customers who couldn't stop raving about the product. We are excited to back what we see as the smartest tech team in the industry," said Sundeep Peechu, Managing Director of Felicis Ventures.

"The real estate industry has historically been very underserved by technology, especially in investment management," said Alex Robinson, Juniper Square's Co-founder and CEO. "Real estate firms are seeking to benefit from innovations in technology, and our solution helps firms of all sizes better manage the entire lifecycle of their capital relationships. This new round of investment will enable us to rapidly improve our product for both sponsors and investors."

Craig Blanchard, the newest Advisory Board member of Juniper Square, added, "In all of my years in the investment management industry, across Stanford Management Company, Townsend, and now Makena Capital, I have seen a clear need for better software. We're finally at a point in the investments industry where we're ready to move beyond spreadsheets, and Juniper Square is the company to lead us there."

Juniper Square's modern, easy-to-use software helps real estate sponsors of all sizes respond to the growing demands of the investments industry. Whether the challenge is seamlessly managing relationships with thousands of individual investors, or meeting sophisticated institutional reporting needs, Juniper Square enables real estate firms to focus on the real estate instead of the back office.
