Magisto: A simple tool to create professional video listings

By Mike Wheatley | January 19, 2015

Magisto is a web application and mobile App (available on IOS and Android) that provides an automatic video editing service for amateurs. According to their website, Magisto’s goal is to solve the problem of video editing being too complicated and time-consuming by letting users edit their videos with just a click. I put together a few Magisto videos using the mobile App, and it was very easy to do.

The FREE version of Magisto allows you to utilize many of the features. However, there is a premium version too. For $4.99/month, $14.99/year, or $.99 single move download you get these additional benefits:

  • Unlimited cloud storage for your videos (Free version: 5GB)
  • Unlimited SD downloads (Free version: $1.00 per movie)
  • Upload 30 clips to create a movie (Free version: 10 per movie)
  • Create longer videos/movies (Free version: 1/2 the length)
  • Upload 30 photos per video/movie (Free version: 10 per movie)

Magisto was also included in Google’s list of Best Apps of 2013.

If you are wondering how this application could apply to your real estate business, the video clip below provides an example of a real estate professional using Magisto to create an Open House Video Tour.

How does Magisto compare to Videolicious and Animoto?

Magisto is available on Android, whereas Videolicious is NOT available on the platform as of yet. However, Animoto is available on Android it can essentially do everything that Magisto does. The FREE version of Animoto allows you to create movies of just 30 seconds or less. The FREE version of Magisto lets you create movies of one minute and 15 seconds, which is more than double the length of Animoto.

We see Magisto as being more relevant for creating fun movies with family and friends, especially since it does not allow for voice overs if you were looking to create an home tour video. However, you can see an example of how a real estate agent used Magisto in the following “Open House Video Tour” below.

If you do decide to give Magisto a whirl for a real estate related video, please share with your story with us!
