Pinterest for Real Estate Agents



Although development for the online pin board known as Pinterest originally started in 2009, the site is only just now starting to gain momentum among the general public. If you’re still unfamiliar with Pinterest and how it works, users are able to display and share their favorite images and items with friends and followers by “pinning” each item to a categorized “board” you create.

In addition, users are also able to title, categorize, and organize each pin-board in whatever way they see fit, easily allowing for all your friends and followers to check out the latest products, fashion trends, and real estate technology updates available to consumers.

Because Pinterest revolves around the images users post to their account, the platform can especially be useful to professionals in the real estate industry; but that’s only if you know how to use it to your advantage. When people are in the market for a new home or condo, the first place they’ll likely check out available real estate properties is the internet. And as you already know, pictures are a huge part in whether home buyers schedule a showing for a property, or move onto a better looking home.

In all likelihood, these homebuyers will probably scan dozens of real estate websites looking for the best home that fits all their living needs. And as a real estate agent, it’s vital for you to have the best online presence possible so you can turn these potential home buyers into your personal clients.

So if you have a Pinterest account, create a real estate board for your city or town. If you’re a real estate broker, create a board for all your real estate listings. Pinterest has a great search tool that allows users to type in exactly what they may be looking for, and as long as you title your board with keywords and write descriptive captions for each image, the likelihood you’ll be found through social media like Pinterest will be much higher than before! Remember, outside-the-box marketing strategies can sometimes mean the difference between selling even just one more home each year! And in today’s housing market, that isn’t something I’d pass up.

      I agree, having the platform revolve around images makes it especially usable for professionals in the real estate industry. I’m actually using that same image-heavy concept to develop a website for a Realtor in Colorado and it’s turning out VERY nicely!
