These hires come on the heels of RealtyMogul.com’s recent announcement of $250 million in capital commitments from institutional investors for bridge and permanent lending in commercial real estate, and will further facilitate the company’s explosive growth and expansion in the commercial real estate debt markets, the company said.

Sanchez and Kim, who helped launch the platform for Colony in 2013 and have originated approximately $1 billion of senior and mezzanine loans since its inception, will be responsible for generating substantial new commercial business for the company. Specifically, they will oversee production in large balance commercial real estate for bridge and permanent loans. They will also lend their considerable experience to provide strategic counsel on the real estate capital markets.

As for Sakamoto, he'll be responsible for overseeing all key legal affairs for the company including investment and securities transactions, contracts and compliance matters for RealtyMogul.com.

Prior to Colony, Sanchez was a founder and principal at CapitalStack, where he was a financial advisor to middle market real-estate developers in the Western U.S. He also worked in various roles at a number of other leading real estate firms including Newport Venture Capital, Hanover Financial and GE Capital. Sanchez earned a B.S. degree in real estate finance from California State Polytechnic University.

Prior to joining RealtyMogul.com, Kim was vice president at Colony Mortgage Capital, where he was a key member of the lending platform focused on middle market opportunities. He focused on executing high-yield bridge loans across ten states, and generated more than $400 million in production. Previously, Kim asset managed real estate loan portfolios for Business Partners, LLC, as well as Imperial Capital Bank. He holds a B.S. in management science from University of California, San Diego, and has an MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Prior to RealtyMogul.com, Sakamoto was the general counsel and chief administrative officer at Wedbush, Inc., a leading financial services and investment firm. Before Wedbush, he served as SVP and general counsel for Madison Tyler Holdings, where he was a key contributor to the firm’s dramatic growth and the completion of a substantial private equity investment into the firm. Sakamoto began his career in the corporate and securities law departments of nationally recognized law firms working on debt and equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, as well as securities compliance and corporate governance.

"High caliber talent such as Michael, Charles and Ryan are rare. It’s a testament of RealtyMogul.com’s market position and platform that these industry leaders would choose to join our team from Colony Capital,” said Jilliene Helman, CEO of RealtyMogul.com. “We are thrilled they are coming aboard our platform, as they will help us further build RealtyMogul.com into a world-class commercial real estate capital markets player."
