Remzy helps you to bid on homes that aren't listed for sale

By Mike Wheatley | February 7, 2017

How many times have you seen a home in your town that you instantly fall in love with? The only problem is it's usually not for sale. In fact, something like 98 percent of U.S. homes are currently off the market. And with the National Association of Realtors and other industry experts constantly bemoaning the low inventories in markets across the country, a new solution has emerged that provides home buyers with more options.

That solution is called Remzy, which operates on the notion that even though a home isn't listed for sale, that doesn't mean the owner wouldn't consider an offer if the price is right.

Remzy acts as a kind of intermediary, helping buyers and real estate agents approach the owners of unlisted properties to submit an offer without walking up and knocking on the door. More specifically, the platform provides a safe way to connect with an off-market homeowner online, helps buyers and sellers save on real estate commissions, and gives agents themselves access to more off-market properties, thereby boosting inventories.

The idea is a smart one because many homeowners actually find unsolicited offers from people who just knock on their door to be somewhat pushy. Indeed, some parts of the country even have "do not knock" laws.

Remzy now offers a professional way to approach the homeowner on behalf of your buyer. When you know the address of the off-market home your buyer is interested in, enter it in the search and make an offer for a limited time fee of $10. Remzy will overnight the homeowner an easy-to-understand offer letter. Remzy provides the homeowner with a PIN number which they can use to connect with the agent online and via email. Best of all, an offer submitted through Remzy is non-binding and anonymous. Using Remzy, negotiate the purchase price directly with the homeowner either online, or arrange a face-to-face meeting. Agents use their existing tools to manage the entire transaction. At closing, the real estate broker’s commission is paid.
