Trulia has made it possible for Apple TV owners to shop for homes from the comfort of their living rooms with a new app.
The company’s first official Apple TV app has been specially designed for the big screen, and allows viewers to browse homes in their desired location without getting up off of the couch. The app provides detailed listings, images, as well as contact details for the listing agent.
The Apple TV app is however best suited for those listings with video walkthroughs due to the big screen size.
Trulia is also making its search algorithm available for Apple TV, which automatically distills listings into categories that lean on its ‘local insights’ data. You can browse through categories like ‘safe neighborhoods’ or ‘great schools’ in your area.
That same type of location data is made available within home listings, too. Sadly, the app is limited to those interested in buying homes; if you want to rent, the mobile app or website are still your best bets.
Unfortunately, Apple TV still doesn’t allow for actionable apps, so you won’t be able to schedule a walk-through of your own via the Apple TV app. You can save homes as favorites, but you’ll need to visit the Trulia website or mobile app to follow through. It’s a bit like the AirBNB Apple TV app in that sense, which is great for discovery, but sometimes feels as though it’s grasping at straws to keep users interested.
The app is available now, and accompanies a refreshed Trulia iOS app that offers a modern aesthetic and simpler user experience.
