Want to Sell Fast? Focus on the Facade!

By Guest Author | March 11, 2016

Spring is just around the corner. When this time of year rolls around, many people put their homes on the market to sell. If you are going to put your house up for sale this year, then perhaps you need to focus on key factors for a quick sale. Sure, painting that spare bedroom or ripping out that worn carpet will help you sell, but, the best thing for resale is to focus on the facade. The front of your home may be what gets buyers in the door and a contract signed.

See Through The Buyer's Eyes

The first thing that a potential buyer sees is the outside of your home. It may determine whether they come in or drive on by. The smallest details make the biggest differences. Drive by your house and view it while looking at the other houses on the block. Make sure that your home has that wow factor.

Enhance Your Landscape

Part of your curb appeal is the landscape. If your grass is brown and has bare spots, you need to fix it. A lush, green lawn will do wonders in enhancing your curb appeal. Plants some flowers, shrubs and add other decorative elements. Potential buyers want to see that the home has a landscape that is complete. If the landscape needs to be done, they may see thousands of dollars that they will need to spend.

Make Your Front Door Pop

There is nothing better than a front door that sets the tone for the whole house. A red door or some other fascinating hue can add so much color to a lackluster front. If your home is a brown, tan or grey color; what better way to enhance the look than by painting the door? Add a decorative wreath and a few extra touches to make sure it has the "wow" factor.

Less is More

Everyone knows those houses on the block that are just overdone. They're the ones that have 15 yard ornaments on the lawn and also haven't cut the grass in months. Make sure that if you do add decorative elements, it adds to the home. For example, chairs and tables can make your porch look more inviting.

Remove Trash and Debris

It's common for people to have toys, wood piles and other things in their yards. When you are trying to sell your home, you want to remove anything that distracts from the home's charm. The lawn may not be golf course quality, but it can be as clean as one. All the little things you do will only enhance the overall look and get your home sold quickly.

By taking these simple steps, you can make your home look appealing to buyers. It’s important to make changes that will take your home from bland to wow.
