3 ideas to get the most out of Pinterest

Pinterest might not be as big as Facebook or Twitter, but realtors who avoid it risk losing out. The platform is admittedly more of a niche site than the other social media giants, but when it comes to real estate it’s one that can provide plenty of fresh leads.

No matter if you use Pinterest to promote specific listings or drive traffic to your blog posts, you’ll want to follow the tips below to make the most out of the platform.

Get a business account

First up, we recommend getting set up with a business account. Not only does it make you look more professional, but there are key advantages too, such as being able to add more keywords to pins so they get in front of your intended audience. Business account users also gain access to various marketing tips and tricks that normal users don’t get, not too mention a comprehensive analytics service so they can see how their efforts are paying off.

Engage with people, ask for their help

One way to get your Pinterest account seen by more people is to issue a call of action that invites people in your network to collaborate with you. For example, you can make a post asking for winter decorating or staging ideas, ideas for an open house party, or even something as simple as asking people how much they’d value a particular listing of yours. With that, you can even make a corresponding Pinterest board for people to contribute their ideas.

Once enough people have responded, be sure to write a follow up post that showcases the best ideas people have suggested. This kind of thing serves to drive more traffic to your website while at the same time creating engaging content for your blog.

Take time to analyze

This is perhaps the most essential task. In order to be successful, you need to understand the types of content that your audience most enjoys seeing. For those who don’t want to pay for a Pinterest business account, an alternative way to get insights is to use Google Analytics to track specific URLs. Pay special attention to the types of content that garner the most repins and likes, and use this to adjust your content strategy so you’re producing more of what your followers really want to see.
