How mobile-friendly is your site?

Twitter Facebook LinkedIn Buffer Pinterest

Is your website deemed to be mobile-friendly? While most of us have an idea of what “mobile-friendly” means, it’s still tough to design a mobile website that takes into account things like the layout of your site’s information, navigation, loading speeds and so on.

Well, the good news is that Google is trying to help site operators to make their websites ‘friendlier’ to mobile users, with a new tool that tests its “mobile friendliness”, as well as the page loading speed for both desktop and mobile versions of your site.

All you need to do is head on over to Google’s tool, input your site’s URL, and you’ll receive three scores ranging from 0 to 100 that rank your site’s mobile friendliness, mobile speed and desktop speed. You’ll also receive a more detailed report that provides tips on how to make your website better.

When considering mobile friendliness, Google takes into account things like ease of navigation, tappable buttons, and information layout. As for the mobile and desktop speed scores, these are simply measured by how long your site takes to load on both types of devices.

While user’s web connections will have a big impact on page load times, the overall design of your website plays a much bigger role, so it may be something you need to address.
