Microsoft launches Android beta version of its Flow automation app

Microsoft is upping its automation game in the workplace with a new tool called Flow, that’s now available on Android. Previously released as a Web-based tool, Flow can now be used by Android users as well to automate actions across numerous popular services, making it simple to post to social media, send replies to messages, manage emails and more, all from one handy app.

Using Flow, users can set up what Microsoft calls “automated recipes” that can carry out tasks on services like Dropbox, Github, Google Drive, Facebook, OneDrive, Slack, Twitter, YouTube and many more.

For now, Flow on Android is only available as a preview (beta) version, which means you’ll have to sign up as a tester here, then download the app from here. Alternatively there’s a more stable Web-based version that can also be used, here. Just login to your Microsoft account from that page, and you’re set.

Note that the Android version doesn’t offer all of the capabilities found in the Web version. It’s more of a manager with less features, however it can be used to monitor Flow recipes, get notifications, and turn them on or off. However the app doesn’t let users create new Flow recipes, nor can they delete existing ones. Hopefully these features will make it into the full app by the time it hits general availability in a few months.

If you’ve been searching for an automation tool that integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Office, Flow could well be just the ticket.
