Most expensive U.S. home ever goes on sale at $250 million

By Mike Wheatley | January 24, 2017

Billionaire property developer Bruce Makowsky's new Bel Air Calif., mansion has set a new record for the most expensive home ever listed in the U.S., commanding a whopping $250 million price tag.

Although the home at 924 Bel Air Road costs more money than most of will ever see in our lifetimes, listing agent Branden Williams insisted to media that the home is "worth every penny" of its eye-watering value.

“Everything is top of the line,” Williams said in a statement. Moreover, he reckons that interested bidders have already placed an offer to buy the property, though he wouldn't reveal any further details.

Not surprisingly, the property has just about every amenity you could imagine at its disposal, and every single thing in the home - from the furnishings to the decor art and even the candy wall - is included in the hefty price tag.

So what does $250 million get you, exactly? Well, for starters the 38,000 square foot home comes with two master suites, plus an additional 10 guest suites. There's a stunning 21 bathrooms in the property, three kitchens, a fully equipped gym and spa, a massage studio, five bars, 17,000 square feet of outdoor decks for sunshine lovers, an 85-foot infinity edge pool, stunning views that take in the Los Angeles skyline, mountains and Pacific Ocean, and over 100 curated art installations.

Oh, and did we mention the entertainment facilities? For example the four-lane bowling alley and lounge, the 40-seat 4K Dolby Atmos theater, the outdoor hydraulic pop-up theater, the two fully-stocked wine cellars and the games room with a candy wall?

Not surprisingly then, the property took more than four years to build.
