What type of content should realtors share on their Facebook account?

I told you in a previous article that it is, in a way, mandatory for real estate professionals to be present on Facebook and I shared with you the key factors to a perfect realtor presence in this network. But as I mentioned there the fact that every real estate agent needs to go beyond the self promo content, I wanted to provide a more in-depth look at the type of content one should share in this famous social network.

Real estate-related content

You are a real estate pro, so you should share and comment on relevant real estate news, opportunities, trends, and so on and so forth. Find some relevant pages and like them – then make sure and access them in order to find valuable, sharing worthy content.

Be up to date with the real estate market in general and with all that’s happening in your area. Offer links to relevant events or information. For instance, you can read, online, the local papers and the real estate section and, if you find something interesting, you can share it. Also, find real estate news and articles sites (like RealtyBizNews) and visit them constantly, sharing the valuable content published by them in your profile. Add a personal note – why do you think that article is interesting (it makes a good point, it is not valid, it mentions an opportunity, etc.) to grow your personal brand and gain your connections’ and followers’ trust.

Own listings and news, blog posts or articles and personal stuff

Yes, it should not be all about you and your business or personal life, but that doesn’t mean that you have to avoid the personal content. On the contrary: Facebook is a good place to include your listings, sales, your news (if you have a company, for instance), your blog posts (if you have a blog, of course) or articles you write in different publications. You can also include links to any interviews or articles about you/your company. Be proud of your accomplishments and share them with your audience 🙂 In addition to all of this, there is also room for the personal content: photos from vacations, maybe a book you are reading or a show you liked etc.

Funny content

Yes, people love to laugh – so use that to keep your online friends close: you can include links to funny pictures or situations, you can share interesting entertaining content from other users or pages online. It takes a while to find the right places, but you can use some relevant keywords (fun, fun photos etc.) in the search area and see what pages top the results (or what pages offer interesting, worthy of shares content.)

Every time you want to post something think about your connections, their interests and try to match them with your own. Also, try to alternate the content: a photo, then a link to an article, then a share from a Facebook page or another realtor and so on. Keep it consistent, don’t cover too many domains. If you have other activities, then maybe you should consider a real estate page instead of a personal profile – but more about real estate Facebook pages in another article.
