A new study was examined by real estate reporter Mary Umberger in the Chicago Tribune last week. The study looked at real estate listings across the country and analyzed how much time properties spent on the market compared to the text or copy accompanying the listing. The study was looking for trends in copywriting that could shorten a listings time on the market. The results were a list of 100 terms that could attract attention. Top of the list was the word “beautiful,” but other keywords frequently used included “stunning,”  “private,”  “move-in condition,” and words pointing out specific home features and amenities.

The study does emphasize the importance of the choice of words in real estate marketing, as there's a very limited space available to convince clients to take a single look. The particular word or phrase can help make all the difference. The Insider combed the list provided by the study and its team of experts have come up with three particular words that help make a real estate listing stand out. They believe careful use of these three words could help agents sell homes more quickly.

Top of the list is the word "beautiful" as it was found to be important in just about all areas within the US. It can be used to describe any type of property to attract attention from buyers. The second word is "warm" which doesn't necessarily refer to the temperature of the property, rather its atmosphere. It was found to be most useful in suburban home markets to indicate the homey and cozy nature of the property. The third word is "luxury." This word indicates the property has a number of amenities that fall into this category, and it's a very useful word when space is at a premium.

The Real Estate Marketing Insider provides readers with in-depth news and analysis of the real estate market. It's a useful source of information for investors and homebuyers and sellers.
