Spring Has Sprung In Bathroom Trends

By Melinda Borucki | February 22, 2012

This season’s hottest trends are finding their way into an unlikely, but often used area:  the bathroom.  From pops of vibrant colors, ornate details, and ultra modern materials, the home’s most often-used room is finally taking center stage.

Bright, exciting colors, like the delicious melon color pictured in the HGTV Dream Baths image (below) make a stunning addition to this powder room.  Also on trend in this bathroom are the repurposed cabinetry and the funky mirror.

Bright Colors and Fun Accessories

Also back in the forefront of the design scene after a brief shut out in favor of the ultra-modern, are the ornate baroque style pieces found pictured from Luxury Bathroom Ideas.  Wood floors, which have always been popular and have been on the rise in recent years, are now making their way into bathrooms.  Once thought of as solely flooring for living spaces, rich woods in all colors are now finding homes in bathrooms.

If you are nonplussed over lack of privacy, this HGTV Dream Bath is perfect for you!

Does a small bathroom plague you?  Bathroom experts are now utilizing floating fixtures to make even the tiniest of rooms seem cavernous.   Of course, the open feeling is a trade off to lack of privacy.  Formerly closed off areas like separate powder rooms within master baths, are now being opened up and exposed by utilizing all glass surrounds and floating fixtures.

Another exciting feature in bathrooms this year:  Super Luxurious Showers.  Once the redheaded stepchild to jetted tubs, the shower is finally stepping into the spotlight.  Not only are the latest showers aesthetically pleasing, but they offer an array of super technological functions as well.  From oxygen infused “bubbly” water, rain baths, ultra jets, and two person showerheads, getting clean has become an aesthetic experience instead of just a necessity.

Finally, if ultra hip shower heads, eye popping color, and accessories to fit your personal aesthetic aren’t enough to inspire your new bathroom re-do, how about the latest material to make its way into bathrooms:  concrete.  Poured concrete bathrooms have become all the rage this year.  From concrete tubs, to concrete sinks, floors and walls, the functionality of this material and its   accessibility to the every day consumer make this top on the “it” list of designs.

Whatever your style and taste, there are ideas for everyone in this spring’s most focused-upon room.
