Top 5 Places to Have a Vacation Home in Australia

By Allison Halliday | July 29, 2016

Australia has so much to offer, even the locals can feel like they are on holiday with the gorgeous beaches, adventurous outback, majestic mountains, and amazing rainforests, so how can you not? Even still, having a vacation home definitely helps with the change of scenery and allows you to live in a completely different region for part of the year. Budget Truck Rentals  make it easy for you to move into your new vacation home and get there when it’s time to visit. Here are 5 of the best places to have a vacation home in Australia. You will see that there is something for everyone.

1. The Tropical Far North of Queensland

The tropical Far North of Queensland is warm all year round. Look in the cities of Cairns or Port Douglas, both major port cities with excursions out to the Great Barrier Reef. Inland you will find the Daintree Rainforest, a magical place filled with waterfalls, wildlife, and ancient Aboriginal history. A holiday home here can be a great, warm winter escape, but is fun to visit all year long.

2. Margaret River Region in Western Australia

If excellent wine and great food is part of your requirement for a holiday, then the Margaret River Region in Western Australia has got your number. The region has mild temps and is close to the beaches, the Karri forests with an exciting cave system to explore underneath, and national parks nearby. Gourmet, locally grown delights are in your daily holiday plans and will be freshly prepared at restaurants, cafes, and wineries throughout the region.

3. The Blue Mountains of New South Wales

The Blue Mountains are beautiful, pristine, and picturesque. It’s hard to believe that this mountain resort town is just 30 minutes west of Sydney’s CBD. It makes for a great getaway that won’t take long to get to at all. You can start vacationing instead of spending most of your time off travelling. Enjoy cool temps and even some snow during the winter. Plus, enjoy the Christmas in July celebrations for Yulefest all winter long. Even when it isn’t winter, the Blue Mountains make a great getaway with horseback riding, hiking, bushwalking, and exploring the rainforest from high above the canopy or down under it. A vacation home in the crisp mountain air is just what you need to help you get away.

4. Surfer’s Paradise Queensland

Surfer’s Paradise is the famed beach town on Queensland’s southern coast that is a holiday mecca. It is just an hour drive south of Brisbane and also located next to Gold Coast, the amusement park capital of Australia. So, when you have a holiday home here, you have a whole host of entertainment possibilities day or night. Surfer’s Paradise is known for its nightlife just as much as it is known for the beautiful beaches and surf. There are plenty of high rises here to choose from, including the Q1 Tower, the southern hemisphere’s tallest residential building. However, it high rise living is not your idea of a holiday home; there are plenty of other options.

5. Mornington Peninsula near Melbourne

Mornington Peninsula is just 90 minutes southeast of Melbourne and is a great place to escape and relax. There are beaches all along the peninsula, Australia’s only thermal pools and spa, Mornington Peninsula National Park, and a rich local foodie culture with fresh grown delicacies right from the peninsula. A vacation home here on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria gives you a chance to get away and relax, enjoy good food, and a variety of outdoor activities along Australia’s southern coast.

    1. The No 1 and No 5 photos are swapped over. The No. 1 photo is the Hill Top Pool at Peninsula Hot Springs but the words are for No.5 photo which is the tropical far north

      1. Thanks for pointing out the error, I've swapped them around now.

        Regards,
        Mike Wheatley

    2. Hi Alison,

I really like the article on the top places for a holiday home, however, the photo of Far North Queensland (no1)is actually the Hill Top Pool at Peninsula Hot Springs (No.5). Who ever uploaded the photos swapped them over accidentally!! Good if you can get that fixed.

      Kind regards,

      Charles Davidson
