Using Facebook Camera for Marketing Real Estate

By Joe Heath | June 7, 2012

Earlier this week I wrote a blog about Facebook’s new iPhone app that allows users to control their Facebook business pages. But in addition to Facebook Pages Manager, the social media giant has also released a brand new iPhone photo app called Facebook Camera, which allows you to shoot, filter, and share all your friend’s photos, as well as scroll through a feed of only your friend’s photos (as opposed to their entire news feed) that were recently uploaded.

Facebook Camera

The idea behind Facebook Camera is to allow for an easier and faster way to upload, edit, tag, and share photos taken, all without having to login to your main Facebook account. Capturing photos of all the people, places, events, etc has become a major part of mobile technology and it’s something that Facebook has clearly recognized - hence their recent purchase of Instagram for a whopping $1 billion. Giving Facebook users a more effective way to apply social media to all the images they capture was obviously the next step on how to further this technology even more.

So how does this affect your real estate business?  Well, should you happen to have a real estate business page, the logical answer is to start taking photos of all those fabulous new property listings that come onto your local market and get them uploaded to Facebook as soon as possible. My suggestion is to title an entire album “New Real Estate Listings” and only upload photos to that album of new real estate property to be listed within the last week or two.

Soon, your followers will catch on and should they happen to be looking for a great new condo or home for sale in the area, the first stop in their search now might not be to do a simple Google search, but instead to their Facebook Camera app to see exactly what you’ve recently uploaded.

As long as you include all the basic property information such as pricing, bedrooms, bathrooms, neighborhood, etc in the photo description, there’s no reason why your followers won’t start using this as a great home search tool now that Facebook Camera has given them a quicker and easier way to view recently uploaded photos.
