InnerSpace enhances commercial listings with real-time, 3D maps

By Mike Wheatley | November 2, 2016

Commercial listings agents may want to take advantage of InnerSpace’s extremely useful indoor mapping tool, which uses GPS technology to map indoor spaces.

InnerSpace’s offering is able to create accurate 3D maps of interior spaces for location finding, and in order to assess foot traffic, among other uses. The technology is also ideal for commercial spaces, especially retail and offices, whether its for property management purposes or to design interior spaces or applications for customers.

InnerSpace’s system comes with two separate products which work together – first theres the mobile application for embedding indoor positions, and the second product is a sensor device that’s used to map the floor area, and real-time foot traffic. Using the system, real estate agents will ensure they have the most accurate occupancy data, can inform their pricing decisions based on a realistic assessment of foot traffic, and help their clients to better understand the layout of the building.

How it works

Simply install the small InnerSpace sensor on a wall or ceiling in the property, connect it to a power source and you’re good to go. The devices uses LIDAR mapping technology and is paired with smartphone-compatible sensors, and quickly builds a 3D map and floorplan of the space its set up in. Those maps can update in real-time to pinpoint the location of people and things in the room, and spaces can be rescanned on demand whenever it’s required.

The positioning technology uses WiFi and BLE signals, trilateration and SLAM fingerprinting for accurate rendering. This means InnerSpace sensors find signals emitted from smartphone devices and calculates their location without the need for a special software install.

Uses

InnerSpace’s mapping and way-finding potential means it could be used as a turn-by-turn navigation aid inside large retail spaces. The device can also be used to measure foot traffic in a large mall or shopping complex, for example. In addition, developers can use InnerSpace data to build customized location-based apps for businesses.

InnerSpace’s active positioning signals rely on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and BLE, relaying how spaces are used, complete with spacial analytics that can help to identify high and low traffic areas in a given building.

The positioning data and real-time maps will be available from InnerSpace as a subscription service, so check their website for more details.
