Solar Companies Donate Solar Arrays to Dallas Habitat for Humanity Homes

Several solar companies in Texas including SolarCity, Trina Solar, Solar US, SES 21, SolarTek, Schletter and Bosch Solar Energy joined with officials from the Solar Energy Industries Association to celebrate the donation of residential solar arrays which are being installed in 15 new Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity homes.

Bill Hall, CEO of the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity says "We are so thankful to the Solar Energy Industries Association and its members for the generous donation of PV arrays and installation services that provide clean, reliable, low-cost power for our homes. This standard of building reduces utility costs for homeowners and strengthens the long-term stability of the home, while improving the overall impact on the environment."

Rhone Resch, President and CEO of SEIA said "The solar industry is dedicated to helping neighborhoods in need. The industry is making solar more affordable for consumers, while bringing new jobs to communities across America."

This week will see 25,000 solar professionals attend the annual Solar Power International conference which is being held at the Dallas Convention Center. It is in Texas for the first time since its inception in 2004. The solar power industry is expanding rapidly at around 69% annually and currently employs over 100,000 people throughout the United States which is double the number of solar industry jobs from two years ago.

Eric Wittenberg, Solar Cities regional director in Texas went on to say "We're honored to work with Habitat for Humanity to donate solar installations that help reduce energy costs for those in need. Texas solar projects create jobs for Texans, produce renewable electricity and reduce pollution." He went on to point out that "The state of Texas has virtually unlimited potential as a solar power producer."

SEIA was established in 1974 and is the national trade association of the US solar energy industry. It has over 1,000 member companies and is working to build a strong solar industry to help make solar power more mainstream and more readily available to the public, by educating them on the benefits of solar energy.
