Stewart Title Introduces Program to Support "Helping A Hero"

Steward Title recently announced the creation of its latest program: a charitable effort to support Helping a Hero. The program is part of its Community of Sharing Initiative. Helping a Hero aims to assist wounded veterans in achieving “sustainable home ownership.”

This charitable program is designed with disabled veterans in mind and will help raise funds to assist them with home ownership. Stewart Title has a large network of title agencies across the United States that will assist veterans in the task of finding suitable homes to purchase.

“I am extremely honored to be able to raise funds to help build homes for our military heroes,” said George Houghton, group president, agency operations.

Every Stewart Title agent was required to watch a video about the various services that the title company offers to its customers, and for every video that an agent views, Stewart Title will donate $20 to the HelpingaHero.org, the charitable organization that runs the program. The project goal for 12 weeks is $35,000, and so far, it has raised $3,566. There are three videos in total, so if a Stewart Title agent watches all three, the company will donate $60. The program began in December 2011 and will continue until March 2012.

Helping A Hero is a non-profit organization that helps place wounded veterans in specially adapted homes to fit their needs. Many service men and women in the U.S. armed forces have returned home with severe burns, missing limbs, or even paralysis. Helping A Hero builds homes that have been adapted to meet this wide range of needs.
