While everyone else eagerly waiting the release of the new iPhone 7, iPhone 7S and Galaxy Note 7, Samsung and Apple will be glancing nervously over their shoulders at the new Akyumen-made Holofone Phablet. The latest entry into the competitive smartphone world comes in full of style and flair. Built for the most tech-savvy users, few will hesitate to have a go at this phablet.
Beginning with the exterior, the Holofone more than lives up to its name by featuring a massive 7-inch, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display. You will definitely look silly with such a massive device on the side of your head when making calls, but at least you will have plenty of room to watch movies and play games. The specs are impressive too, with the phone powered by Intel’s z8300 quad-core (Cherry Trail) processor alongside 4GB of RAM and 128GB of local storage that is expandable. The device also includes a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, 4G LTE compatibility, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and so on.
If you need even more space, however, the Holofone includes a 35-lumen projector that can project images up to 100 inches on the diagonal. According to Akyumen, the projected image is of a “high resolution,” so we hope the projector shoots out at least 720p resolution images.
As if that wasn't enough, the Holofone has a second trick up its sleeve too: It can boot into either Android 5.0 Lollipop or Windows 10. That’s the full desktop version of Windows 10 by the way, not the mobile version. Admittedly the Android version is a tad dated, but hopefully it will soon be upgraded to either Android Marshmallow or the upcoming Nougat.
If you are interested in the Holofone, keep in mind that the phablet is sold only in bundles through Akyumen’s website. The bundles start at $600 for the Education Package and go all the way up to $950 for the Advanced Package, which includes everything from a Bluetooth speaker to a game controller. Several packages of the white and silver Holofone are currently sold out, with bundles still available for the black and white variant. The phone is currently available for pre-sale orders, and will ship beginning on November 5.
