Pinterest, as I am sure you know, is one of the fastest growing social networks. It’s a place where the pictures are the stars and where real estate agents can show off their listings, network and more.
Included below are the ingredients of a followed Pinterest realtor profile. Don’t forget that we presented you Top 100 Real Estate Pros on Pinterest and, as you saw then (or can notice now), there are real estate agents with an impressive number of followers (number one has over 4 milion followers!) and awesome boards.
Choose a good photo – but not a funny one as you do want to be perceived as an expert. Write a short, concise but relevant description (you can easily combine the professional angle with some personal elements, for instance 1-2 hobbies, or you can keep it simply professional).
Don’t expect others to repin or like your content or discover you by chance. It happens, true, but you also have to be active on this network. Follow people or boards of interest – from your field (other realtors) and related areas, domains of personal interest (food, travel, jewelry, DIY, decorations, etc.)
Content is king, they say, speaking about content marketing, but it is also a good description for Pinterest. Don’t think only about the fact that you want to promote your listings. They should definitely be listed – you can group them in one board or in several boards, by areas or type of properties or any other criteria that best suits your needs.
But go beyond the simple listings and think first of potential real estate related boards: for instance, if you sell luxury properties, then you can think of a board with luxury mansions owned by famous people.
You can also have one or more boards with homes related ideas (as they are connected to the real estate domain): decorations (even more boards if grouped by holidays!), architecture, various rooms from a house (bathroom, living room, kitchen, etc.), art – pieces that could make your house warmer or art in general (paintings, sculptures etc.), storage ideas, and so on and so forth.
Then think of all the topics that are of interest to you: you can think about travel related boards (beach, mountains, nature, famous places, castles, etc.), children, beach, food, etc. In the end, it doesn’t have to be an effort for you to be present on Pinterest, but a pleasure: to easily combine the professional interest with the personal gain. Plus, more diverse boards, more chances to have followers with similar interests.
If it is an ordeal, a “duty” to enter Pinterest and add content, be active, then this is not the social network for you. It should help you in your activity, not be a burden. However, don’t forget that, as in the case of any other social media network, you have to have a constant presence and activity on Pinterest, to reply to the comments you receive, to comment on various pins, to constantly add pins in your boards.
