Redecorating a home, or even a single room is something most people spend hours researching and planning. It can be complicated trying to source exactly the right furniture and to achieve the desired look, but new design app Hutch is set to change all that.
According to the article in Tech.co, Hutch is an interior design and e-commerce app allowing users to easily and quickly design their space. All users need do is to take a photo of the space they wish to redecorate and they can then choose a new theme from a variety of the latest trends. These include just about every look you could ever want. Hutch then virtually redesigns the room, giving users a good idea as to how it would look, within just twenty-four hours. Users are also able to purchase the products featured in their room design directly through the app.
The company was founded by Beatrice Fischer-Bock, Benjamin Broca, Lizzie Grover, Madeline Fraser and Ethan Gromet. Lizzie Grover, Beatrice Fischer-Bock, and Madeline Fraser all studied interior design at George Washington University, where they originally met. The group went on to appear on Shark Tank with their business Zoom Interiors and were introduced to the chairman and co-founder of Tinder, Sean Rad, who subsequently introduced them to Benjamin Broca and Ethan Gromet.
The idea for the app came when the group looked around at their generation, noticing that friends frequently asked for design help and that expectations about staying in one location had changed significantly. Instead of marrying early and staying in the same property for years, today’s generation is more likely to move around and every time they do so they are going to need new furniture.
The app is free and is available for Android or IOS. Instead of charging for the app, the company will gain revenue through selling products on the app at retail prices and which have been purchased at wholesale prices. In a Series A and Seed round of funding the company raised $7.14 million.
