Can Growing Plants on Your Walls Really Benefit Your Property?

By Guest Author | June 6, 2016

It sounds crazy, growing plants on your walls to increase your property value. Surprisingly however it’s not as crazy as it sounds, and plant walls are growing in popularity for a large number of reasons.

However, as with any garden, they can take a lot of hard work and money to install and maintain. They require a filtered water source, regular fertilisation, and plenty of attention to the environment in which they are installed. Some may even need to be taken down and stored indoors for some parts of the year. Unsurprisingly, for many people this is far too much effort to go to, this is where artificial vertical gardens, or plant walls, come in useful.

What are the Advantages of Vertical Gardens?

So why should you install a vertical garden? Well both natural and artificial plant walls have a large number of benefits. Plant walls are incredibly effective at adding an insulating layer to your walls, which will keep your building cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. This will save you money on heating and air conditioning bills.

Plant walls also provide health benefits, drastically reducing stress and improving mental health. In a commercial setting, it was observed that properties with plant walls had a reduced staff turnover rate, and less staff taking sick days. It also increased the productivity and mood of the staff working in these buildings. Plant walls will make for a more relaxed domestic setting as well, and will result in a happier more peaceful home life.

Why Buy an Artificial Vertical Garden?

But why should you choose artificial vertical gardens for your property? After all, surely the natural solution is better? As stated earlier natural plant walls are a lot of work to produce and maintain. In order to produce a natural plant wall it is very important to ensure all the plants are suited to the environment. Humidity, wind, temperature, rainfall, and more need to be considered when selecting plants. It is harder for plants to flourish in a plant wall than it is for them to exist in an ordinary garden, so a lot of research is required when selecting the plants you will use. This can be very time consuming.

Not only that, but producing a plant wall will also take a large investment of time and money. It will be necessary to carefully construct a frame strong enough to hold the plants, as well as an intricate irrigation system. If the irrigation system is not correctly calibrated then a plant wall will die either from over-watering or malnourishment. Some natural plant walls will also need to be removed and stored indoors during the winter.

As you can see this is a lot of work, and buying an artificial vertical garden will save a lot of time and money, while still giving almost all of the same benefits. Clearly then, unless you are an avid gardener or can afford to hire one, an artificial vertical garden is the most practical option.

In a Commercial Setting

Artificial vertical gardens are very useful in a commercial setting, and can greatly benefit a business. Not only will you save money due to the insulating properties of the plant wall, but as mentioned earlier it will also benefit your staff. Happier healthier staff are key to running a successful business. Real estate with vertical gardens are a prime location for a business due to the customer appeal. For example pedestrians walk slower past shopfronts with plant walls due to their eye-catching appearance, and it makes your business stand out from the rest of the street.

So if that doesn’t convince you I don’t know what will! Adding an artificial garden to your home or business, or purchasing real estate with a vertical garden, has so many benefits. It insulates your property helping you save money, and also is shown to have mental health benefits and reduce stress. Not only that but businesses with plant walls have lower staff turnover rates and attract more customers. They are easy and practical, and look good as well! So install an artificial vertical garden today, and feel the benefits for yourself. They are easy and practical, and look good as well!
