Hersha Hospitality, a property management company that operates nearly 80 of the leading market hotels in the US, has partnered with Clean the World and pledged to donate 1 million bars of recycled soap and 500,000 bottles of recycled shampoo, gels, and lotions to children and families in need across the globe.
The next time you toss away a bottle of shampoo or unfinished bar of soap, think about people around the world who might not have such hygienic necessities. That is the message of Clean the World, a non-profit organization which re-purposes what would otherwise be discarded soap from hotels, and puts them to use in areas of the world where it is not readily available.
Each year Hersha will give 9,000 children enough soap for an entire year. Much of the sickness and death in many countries around the world is the result of poor sanitation and hygene, often the natural result of drought, poverty, and political upheaval.
“Hersha Hospitality Management understands the value of the Clean the World program and its essential role in our goal to advance a global hygiene revolution,” said Shawn Seipler, Executive Director at Clean the World. “By expanding this program throughout their entire portfolio, Hersha and EarthView will solidify their reputations as industry leaders for environmental sustainability, and serve as an inspiration for other hotel partners to follow with their own green initiatives.”
Hersha Hospitality, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, manages upper upscale, upscale, and midscale hotels throughout the United States. Some of the companies properties include brand affiliations with Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt.
