How to Find a Real Estate Agent That Will Actually Sell Your House

By Hannah Whittenly | February 23, 2017

When you put your house on the market, one of your main goals is to have the home sell quickly. A key to getting your house sold quickly and at a price you’re comfortable with is to find a real estate agent that is eager to help you achieve your goal. There are several aspects to consider when evaluating and selecting a realtor.

Focus on Local Agents

When you select a realtor that is familiar with the area you live in, the realtor will be able to point out the positive features of that area to prospective buyers. They will know how your home compares to the other house for sale in that area. It’s always good to ask family members, friends and co-workers that have sold or purchased a house in that area what realtor they would recommend. If you’re trying to go at this all on your own and find an agent through a real estate firm, such as Century 21 Town & Country, you can always ask them for a list of references that you can contact.

Check the Realtors Credentials

Motivated real estate agents keep up-to-date on all aspects of buying and selling homes. Ask about recent courses they’ve taken or certifications that they have received. You may want to also ask about their individual rankings. Realtors are ranked and awarded for high percentage sales. A realtor that ranks high on the scale is one who will be committed to selling your home.

Be Compatible

The process of selling your home will proceed in a smoother manner if you establish a cordial working relationship with the realtor. There’s almost always some give and take involved in the selling process. Being able to work out the details and work through the negotiation process in a friendly manner is beneficial to you and the real estate agent.

Analyze Motivation

Motivation is also a point to consider when choosing a real estate agent. Someone who is new to the profession and trying to establish themselves as an excellent realtor may work hard to sell your home in order to establish themselves as a top selling agent. The desire to maintain a high placement on a ranking scale that motivates a well-established realtor to make an extra effort to sell your home.

Selling your home can be faster and less stressful if you invest some time in finding an excellent realtor. You can check locally and at online resources to find a realtor that is dedicated to selling your house.
