Most Common SEO Mistakes That Can Kill Your Real Estate Rankings

By Guest Author | February 8, 2019

Real estate is one of the most lucrative industries today. Seeing that the industry is a gold mine, most entrepreneurs are looking to step their foot into the business. Since you are here, the chances are high that you are one of the esteemed business owners getting into this just like the award wining seo company in Brisbane. As you may well be aware, if you are a new business, you need to put in a significant amount of effort in creating brand awareness if your business is to thrive.

Real estate is one of the businesses that operate on digital platforms. You, therefore, need to understand what will make or kill your business. If you have incorporated SEO into your digital marketing campaigns, the following are some of the mistakes that you need to avoid.

1. Buying links

Are you considering buying links to boost your SEO rankings? Do not. You would rank better if you organically ranked by providing the clients with valuable content. If you are buying links, Google will find it, and your site will suffer the consequences. Also, remember that there is a high chance that the links you are buying are from spammy sites: which will also hurt your SEO.

2. Duplicating content

Stealing content will not make your business make more sales and conversions. Note that Google will realize and you will get penalized for stealing content. Note that Google’s goal is to rank a site that is deserving of the reward. It will not rank people for work they have not done.

You have already devoted a lot of resources to your SEO. Do not let duplication of content have that crumble down. Creating original content goes a long way in creating a voice for your brand and creating authority. You are more likely to be ranked for original content than duplicating.

3. Keyword stuffing

If you are using the wrong keywords just for click-baiting, you need to stop. It will do your SEO more harm than good. Even if you realize that sites are ranking for a particular keyword, do not force it into your content if they are not relevant.

If the keywords are not about real estate or anything relevant to the industry, then you should not do not have them.

The thing is that once you use keywords, you will compel users to click your site. If they find that what you are having is not what they are looking for, they will exit, increasing your bounce rate. Having a high bounce rate will only make your site look bad. Note that it will give Google the impression that you have been unable to help the users: which is something you rank for in the first place.

4. Not doing audits on your website

Note that the only way you will be able to evaluate your performance is by doing audits as regularly as possible. Luckily for you, there are plenty of tools in the market that you could use to analyze your SEO metrics. Audits are essential as they have a significant contribution to improving the performance of your site. For instance, through these tools, you will able to identify the kind of audience that is interested in real estate.

Also, you will be able to identify the areas in which your site is not doing so well. For instance, you can distinguish the kind of keywords that are driving traffic to your site and the ones that are not. By so doing, you will come up with better keywords that will encourage more and quality traffic to your site.

For your real estate business to flourish, you need to be where your audience can see you. The mentioned practices could be the ones getting in the way of securing the top rank in SERPs, avoid them and you will notice a significant change in your SEO.
