Real Estate Reasoning: Top Signs That a Listing is Your Next 'Home Sweet Home'

By Hannah Whittenly | April 26, 2017

Shopping for a new home can be a long process, especially because of the sheer amount of selection in most real estate markets. Narrowing down your options is key to choosing a home that is just right for you and your family. Here are four great ways to tell that the listing you're looking at might just be your new home.

Big improvement in luxury property segment

It's Close to Your Workplace
Nothing is worse than a long drive before and after work every day. If the home you're looking at is closer to your place of business than your current one, it's a very definite point in its favor. A shorter drive will mean more free time and less money spent on gas.

It Has One Feature You Really Love
As strange as it may seem, many buyers start considering a given home because of one specific feature that catches their eyes in the listing pictures. Perhaps it's a field stone fireplace or a great backyard. If there's something you really love about a particular home, you might just be looking at your next house.

It Stands Out While Scrolling
Let's be honest, no one actually pauses to look at each individual home while scrolling through real estate listings. Instead, most people wait until they see something that stands out from the crowd. Scroll through pages of real estate listings, such as Brace Homes, and pay careful attention to which homes catch your eye as you're moving down the page. If it stands out in that context, it's probably worth a look.

It's in Your Price Range
Needless to say, a listing of the perfect home is useless if it's too expensive for you to afford. If a property on the market is to become your next home, it needs to be in the price range you have set for yourself. One of the easiest ways to narrow down your options when searching through real estate listings is to set your price range as part of the search criteria. This will keep you from wasting time looking at listings that are outside the price range you know you want to stay within.

Narrowing down home listings to a single house you'd like to live in can seem overwhelming, but it can be done. In many cases, a good real estate agent will be invaluable, as he or she can eliminate many of the possibilities for you based on your own criteria. Although you shouldn't jump on the first home you like, it is also important to be decisive, or you will never be able to choose a home and purchase it.
