Sam Mizrahi: Developing The One a “great responsibility, but a deep honor”

By Jamie Richardson | February 21, 2022

Sam Mizrahi had a vision: He wanted to bring to life the tallest, most luxurious tower – unlike anything Canada has ever seen.

His development, The One, is now in the process of transitioning from a dream to reality.

The One is a 94-floor tower under development in Toronto’s bustling area of Yonge and Bloor. With a proposed height of 338.3 metres, this would officially make The One the tallest residential tower in Canada. The development also brings a host of essential dwellings to the downtown area, including residences on the mid and high rise levels, along with two penthouse suites and one grand penthouse suite that has a current listing price of $34.7 million.

Set for completion in 2023 according to Mizrahi Developments’ website, the tower will create over 400 custom homes for people in the Toronto area.  As it stands now, 80% of residential units have sold and all commercial spaces have been sold or leased.

Indeed, if Mizrahi had not recently decided to add an additional nine floors to keep pace with the condominium demand in Toronto, The One’s residential units would have already been 95 percent sold out.

A design that includes a rooftop garden terrace and infinity pool

The One’s design was created with both structural integrity and aesthetic in mind, with the reinforced tower having practical beauty in the form of shimmering bronze trusses that create a lattice-like exoskeleton.

These trusses will allow for natural light to be reflected throughout the interior, generating a modern ambiance.

Sam Mizrahi teamed-up with world renowned architects Foster + Partners as well as structural engineers, construction experts and designers in order to design The One to maximize space and light, while also being structurally sound.

Meanwhile, the feature of a 8,200 square foot rooftop garden terrace the size of a city park will be a place to relax and visit with friends and loved ones, even in the winter months, thanks to state-of-the-art snow melting technology. All of this topped off by an infinity pool with a one-of-a-kind view of the Toronto skyline.

Toronto’s First Andaz Hotel

Once built, people won’t have to purchase property in The One to enjoy the building’s grandeur and views. 10 floors of the tower will be reserved for Toronto’s first Andaz Hotel, a hotel that will have over 135 rooms, as well as a fitness centre, fine dining options, and five star concierge service, all amenities that will be available to hotel guests.

Who is Sam Mizrahi?  And Why Did He Choose To Build The One?

Sam Mizrahi has been in the real estate business for over 25 years and runs his projects through his company, Mizrahi Developments. He prides himself on the ability to exceed expectations and has become known in Canada for his bold choices when it comes to the craftsmanship of his real estate projects. Previous projects of Mizrahi's include 1451 Wellington in Ottawa and 128 Hazelton in Toronto, both of which are extravagant and bold in design.

Over the past 10 years, Sam Mizrahi has shifted his primary focus towards condominiums and has now become a leading developer in the condominium marketplace. With that said, The One is Mizrahi’s defining development, and he believes being the founder of the tallest building at one of the busiest intersections in Canada is not only a “great responsibility, but a deep honour.”

As Mizrahi says, “The culture of Toronto remains vibrant and world-class. For families and companies to find their homes at The One is significant. Lives will be built and memories created. That means something, particularly since the pandemic showed how much humans need each other.”
