The Best Tips For Renovating Your Garage

By Jamie Richardson | December 3, 2018

A garage is just as important as any other area of the house. The reason is that it provides your vehicle a nice shelter from the elements. Aside from that, it’s also a part of the house that can be converted to just about anything.

Want more space for playing beer pong with your friends? Want to create your own mini theater? Want a makeshift workshop to pursue your wood carving passion? Anything is possible once you have your garage all primed.

That being said, let’s look at some fun and unique organization ideas that can make your garage more than just storage for the family car.

1. Organize everything inside
When you have a lot of tools stored in the garage, you know that it won’t be neat and clean all throughout. For one, you could be misplacing your hammers and wrenches all over the place. It doesn’t make everything convenient. If anything, it can actually make your garage more crowded than it already is with your car inside.

So, whether or not you’re planning for a major overhaul of your garage, you still need to practice effective storage utilization. This will help you make the most out of the available space you have in your garage. In addition, you can hire experts from Garage Kings who has the right Epoxy Flooring Equipment to install epoxy flooring to make your garage floors resistant to impacts, as well as chemicals and surface abrasion.

2. Find alternative storage
If you want to convert your garage into extra living space, you will also need to consider other areas where you can place your vehicle. Parking it at the curb is not the best thing you can do here since this would render your car vulnerable to the elements as well as the threat of theft.

You can at least build a new carport on your property. For this, make sure to pick a design that suits your needs. If you want to your new garage to have multi-purpose features, opt for a spacious floor plan. That way, you can have ample storage space for other items.

3. Build new features
As the years go by, you are probably thinking about adding to your collection of vehicles. But considering the limited capacity of your garage, you will have to consider building new amenities
to accommodate additional vehicles.

For instance, if you’re planning to buy a trailer, you will need a separate area for the caravan. The building should be placed near your garage so it would be easier to attach the caravan to your car. For this, you may want to opt for custom caravan sheds. These are typically made from reinforced steel to give your vehicle extra protection. Other accessories should also include the type of decor you want as well as a charging station, if you’re buying an electric vehicle such as a Tesla.

4. Upgrade your insulation and wall paint
As much as possible, you will have to control the humidity inside your garage. Poor temperature regulation can actually affect the integrity of your garage and the contents that it stores. For this, make sure to provide adequate insulation for the walls. Choose materials such as foam and cellulose for the best results.

After you’re done with the insulation, you can then proceed with repainting your garage and give it a fresh new look. In addition, you may hire a garage door repair technician to inspect and provide professional garage door repair services.
