Top 4 Places to Live if You Love Autumn

By Guest Author | September 19, 2016

Do you love autumn? The arrival of fall means a relief from hot summer temperatures. Many people enjoy watching leaves transform into a rich canvas of brilliant reds, yellows and browns. During this time of year, households often participate in fun activities. Pumpkin and gourd carving contests, apple festivals, hay rides, Halloween parties, pie bake-offs and convivial family Thanksgiving gatherings enable communities to share wonderful experiences. Consider spending some time in one of these great locations this autumn to really celebrate the wonders of the season:

One: White River Junction, Vermont

Easily accessible via Amtrak, the historic village of White River Junction, Vermont (population 2,286 in 2010), once served as a railroad center. Today, the community has found new life as a hub for arts, crafts and baked goods. Visitors will find plenty of interesting fall activities here, from admiring changing autumn landscapes to sampling freshly baked pastries and pies. Film buffs remember this location as the site of the filming of W.D. Griffith's silent film Way Down East starring Lillian Gish. A September Glory Days Festival celebrates the town's locomotive history.

Two: Baraboo, Wisconsin

Baraboo, previously the home of the Ringling Brothers Circus, offers a variety of interesting activities. Visit Circus World, participate in spooky Halloween city ghost walks, or tour the International Crane Foundation here this fall. The Mid Continent Railway Museum in nearby North Freedom conducts an Autumn Color weekend in October; visitors board trains and spend an hour marveling at the incredible colors in the area.

Three: Mission Viejo, California

One of the largest master-planned communities, beautiful Mission Viejo provides a great spot for enjoying autumn in Southern California. This Orange County community boasts so many trees lining residential neighborhoods, it earned an award from the Arbor Day Foundation! Four: Athens, Tennessee

Athens calls itself as "The Friendly City". Enjoy autumn in this location hiking along some remarkable municipal nature trails.
