Axius teams up with property developers to pre-integrate its smart home solution

By Mike Wheatley | September 4, 2017

Smart home management company Axius has announced it’s teaming up with property managers and building developers to build smart homes “from the ground up”. The basic idea is that new homes will come pre-integrated with the Axius Hub smart home management system, enabling easier setup and monitoring of smart home devices.

This is a new approach that  will ensure greater efficiency and performance from a range of smart home technologies and devices, including thermostats, security cameras, locks, baby monitors, and even microwaves.

Axius says it’s trying to address the lack of skills among homeowners to properly manage the complexity of their home technology ecosystems. The company’s Axius Hub is a kind of networking hub that allows for easy management and boosts the security of smart home devices it links to. By creating a fully inclusive service layer for your home, Axius is able to provide support, security and management for homeowners’ IoT devices. In essence, it serves to simplify the process of managing smart homes.

Axius is working directly with developers and property managers from the onset of construction to intelligently and efficiently build smart homes from the ground up. Axius is helping them with everything from floor plans and layouts to recommendations for which devices to install in conjunction with each other. After the residents move in and the house becomes a home, the  hub is pre-installed in the home to help them get set up and monitor all of their smart home devices.

Axius dramatically simplifies the building and management of smart homes. Designing a smart home means that every wall placement and outlet location needs to be carefully thought out. Furthermore, the choice of devices needs to be optimized so they can work in conjunction with each other. With the expertise of Axius, developers are able to build homes with the necessary foresight to conscientiously design and plan their homes.

“We are thrilled to announce today the availability of Axius to homeowners across the US,” said Colin Barceleoux, founder and CEO of Axius. “Smart Homes aren’t complete after installation. Connected (IoT) devices are intended to make life easier, but can be riddled with vulnerabilities, inadequate security, and need to be monitored and supported. Most homeowners don’t have the skills or understanding to manage the complexity of their home technology ecosystems. That's where Axius comes in!”

Axius is currently piloting programs with builders, integrators and property managers across the US in markets like New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and San Francisco, and providing smart home management and support to more than 500 of their units. Axius offers the technical expertise and staff to provide this much needed support service - so builders and integrators can focus on what they do best.

COO of Starcity Communities, Jesse Suarez, said "there’s nothing worse than a lock malfunctioning and preventing a resident from going home. Axius prevents this with constant monitoring and handles issue fixes with their alerts and troubleshooting. There are too many apps and devices that don’t communicate so Axius is a huge help to simplify this and keep homes working."
