Luxury Spotlight: Tuscany Property Castello di Casole

By Phil Butler | July 4, 2012

In international property news, a new development in Tuscany came to light early this week when Timbers Resorts announced the grand opening of Hotel Castello di Casole. The former 10th century castle, transformed into a luxurious 41-suite boutique hotel, will be the centerpiece of a Timbers Resorts Hotel & Residences development located within a 4,200-acre private estate. Castello di Casole

Yesterday I discovered Hotel Castello di Casole while researching news for our Argo Travel News publication, the Tuscany location and value being fairly obvious, I took note of the size and location of the estate David Burden and his team had selected for this development. One of the largest tracts of property of a kind in Italy, this is not just a 5 star resort destination, but a potential "home away from home" for anyone who ever wanted to own their own bit of Tuscany.

The estate offers potential homeowners, or more appropriately farm house owners, about as picturesque and serine a surroundings as is imaginable; a model game preserve, 88 acres of vineyards, 13 acres of olive groves and an expansive trail system, are situated smack dab in the middle of one of Italy's most famous wine growing regions. The estate itself, having once belonged to the Bargagli family, of old nobility, not to mention the former home of famed Italian film director Luchino Visconti.

Fast forwarding through the history of the estate, this wondrous place has been home to a lot of living from legendary farming pride to jet set celebrity affairs. Of particular note for the potential home buyer, are the many restored farmhouses.

Italian farmhouse

Timbers Resorts, with the aid of renowned interior designers; J Banks Design, of Hilton Head Island, SC and Showcase Design, of Carbondale, CO, has perfectly restored, modernized and made luxurious farm houses of between 4,000 and 7,000 square feet, better known as the Casali. Each of the 28 to be sold has been reconstructed in the traditional Tuscan style. Each offers its distinctive range of modern amenities such as; glass tiled private infinity-edged pool, guest houses and wherever possible the original al fresco forno ovens.

In addition, each Casali is appropriately named for the original farm it represented on the estate, as well as its own custom style and color schematic. Situated on acreage in a sort of "mini estate" fashion, owners will also be afforded a wide array of exclusive amenities.

The Bargagli Penthouse

Ownership of the farmhouses and other properties about Castello di Casole exist in the form of outright purchases of between €3.7 and €7.25 million euros, and 1/12 time shares beginning at around €290,000 for the nearby Villa Scuola and Villa Sant’ Antonio properties. Obviously, a range of properties and price ranges are offered for access to ongoing amenities and activities.

Villa purchases, five star hotel accommodations, even 6 so called Bargagli Penthouse (image above) ownership that include features from Pre-arrival grocery services to a private driver - the Timbers Resorts offerings here in Tuscany are quite something. Owners and guests can:

  • Take Italian Language Classes
  • Attend Cooking Classes
  • Participate in Olive Oil and Wine Tasting events
  • Enjoy Vineyard Tours & Wine Education
  • Take Part in Guided Game Preserve Tours
  • Learn Ceramic Making
  • Go Hiking
  • Take up Bocce
  • Venture Out for Road & Mountain Biking
  • and Even Experience Mushroom foraging

Italian villas and home-sites.

Nearby Florence is less than an hour away, with Rome scarcely two and a half hours to the Southeast. Winner of the CNBC European Property Awards for the categories; Five-Star Award for Best Development, Italy and Four-Star Award for Best Redevelopment (multiple units), Italy, Castello di Casole quite literally offers far too much to list here.
