Coldwell Banker intros new Amazon Alexa skill for real estate pros

By Mike Wheatley | August 4, 2017

Coldwell Banker is creating new ways for Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant to showcase real estate information to consumers.

The company said it’s focusing more heavily on voice assisted devices after a survey carried out by Voice Labs earlier this year found that 72 percent of U.S. consumers with smart home products would like better voice controls. Voice Labs’ survey also estimated that around 24.5 million voice-activated devices will be sold in the U.S. this year alone. That would bring the total number of such devices in the country up to 33 million, Voice Labs said.

Coldwell Banker seems to be taking advantage of this, and has just introduced its second skill for Amazon Alexa, which is one of the most popular voice assistant devices in the U.S.

The new “Coldwell Banker Gen Blue News Skill” updates users with the latest company news and real estate industry trends. Now, users just have to say “Alexa, open Gen Blue News” and they’ll get instant access to all of the company’s latest news. The skill is available under the Business & Finance category in the Alexa Skills Store.

Coldwell Banker earlier this summer introduced its first skill to Alexa, called the “Coldwell Banker Home of the Week” skill, which delivers the company’s most exclusive listings each week via audio.

Coldwell Banker conducted its own survey last June that revealed some 79 percent of real estate agents and brokers would be interested in using a smart home speaker equipped with its news and insights.

"We've heard from agents that they are interested in voice-enabled technology and smart-home devices, so we wanted to make sure there was another Coldwell Banker Skill for Amazon Alexa available to help the community keep a pulse on the latest trends and breaking real estate headlines,” said David Marine, senior vice president of marketing for Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. “We're excited to work with Amazon again to create our second Alexa Skill and expand our tech offerings for agents."
