First-Time Home Sellers: 5 Hacks for Maximizing Your Selling Price

By Lizzie Weakley | May 7, 2018

For first time home sellers its  almost as exhilarating as buying your first home. Knowing you have the ability to get more money for the home you’ve lived in helps you see there are things you can do to make money. Just make sure you follow steps to maximize the selling price of your house.

Curb Appeal Is Necessary
Having curb appeal is a huge part of getting more for your home. People who drive by and see your great house will show interest in it. When they’re the ones who want the house, you’ll get more money for it no matter what. It’s a great idea to take a few simple steps to clean up the front of your house and make it appealing.

Think about the Market
When realtors sell homes, they make sure the market is conducive to selling. It doesn’t have to be a formal seller’s market, but there should be some success with home sales in the area. To ensure you get the most for your house, consider all the options in your market area.

Kitchens and Bathrooms Sell
If you’re going to fix one or two things in your home, make it the kitchen and the bathrooms. Buyers love to see updated kitchens and bathrooms. You don’t even have to do a total renovation on your kitchen or bathroom. Just put some new paint on it and update it a little to get the most for your home.

Fix Obvious Problems
There are some improvements that just don’t increase the value of your home. Improving things that are minor and fixing the things that need fixing can help you get more for your house.

Use a Professional Photographer
Good photos of your home will help it sell better. You can get more money when more people show interest. A professional photographer can provide you with the best photos of your home so you can show off what you love most about it. Try different things and different angles than what you usually see. A photographer will be able to make that happen.

Getting the most for your home is an important part of the selling process. By taking the time to see everything you can do to increase the value and get more money for it, you can take the steps necessary to make everything better during the sales process.
