Ubiq's new wireless meeting solution aims to eliminate lost hours

By Mike Wheatley | July 20, 2016

Wireless collaboration vendor Ubiq is hoping to revolutionize meeting spaces with a new solution that can be plugged into any TV or projector, allowing users to carry out presentations securely and wirelessly in under a second.

Ubiq is trying to fix a little-talked about problem of wasted meeting hours. It cites a recent study by Atlassian that shows employees attend an average of 62 meetings a month, where the majority of them consider half of the time spent at those meetings to be wasted. It points to technological issues as one of the main culprits for these wasted hours, with employees often spending many minutes waiting for IT to help them out. Ubiq says IT managers spend a total of 23 days per year in meeting rooms trying to solve technology problems, and that this time can be better utilized by everyone. As such, Ubiq’s new solution ensures there will be no technological hitches, allowing managers and IT staff to spend more time focusing on their business.

"Conference meetings in the workplace are a broken process,” said Sumit Pasupalak, co-founder of Ubiq, in a statement. “Wireless presentation is the first step in solving this problem and creating the ideal workplace for meetings. Ubiq streamlines the setup of the meeting space to make connecting simple and smarter. As we look to the future of collaboration, we'll ensure that every piece of technology in a conference room is connected and set up for easy interface."

One of the standout features of Ubiq’s new solution is network integration. The solution allows employees to easily connect two existing networks – corporate and guest – thereby allowing both parties to securely stream presentations to the appropriate network. Ubiq’s offering also comes with a unique management dashboard that allows IT to configure, manage and monitor units remotely. Finally, Ubiq provides the ability to manage all content from the same place, be it images, videos or web links.
