Central Washington Realtor Lesleigh Jacobs, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, lists the top three tips included in her complimentary “Making $ense of Remodeling Projects” seminar.
There are many ways to give back to a community. “I use my love for people and my love for homes to assist and educate home sellers in sorting out what is true and applicable in spending money on home remodeling projects in Yakima and what is just television entertainment,” said Realtor Lesleigh Jacobs, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.
Jacobs, who has a 30-day maximum exposure marketing plan, is in the process of designing a free seminar for home sellers called “Making $ense of Remodeling Projects.” The following three tips will be included in the seminar, which will be launched at the tail end of this year or the first of 2019.
No. 1: Where do you start? “Figuring out why you are spending on your project will help you understand whether it is for your own family’s comfort or whether you are trying to get more money out of the sale of the home,” noted Jacobs.
No. 2: What increases value in a home? Some projects are just maintenance, such as replacing carpet, putting on a new roof, or painting the interior or exterior of the home. “Buyers rarely will pay for something the seller should be doing to take care of their home -- namely home maintenance,” added Jacobs. “Some projects will make your home more appealing to today’s buyers, but not actually add value. As a seller, you should know whether your project will actually add value or make it easier to sell.”
No. 3: Learn the biggest mistake most sellers make. “The biggest mistake is over-spending on projects that are really not important to today’s buyers,” concluded Jacobs. “Understanding what buyers want will help sellers figure out which investments in projects will have the biggest payoffs when it comes time to sell.”
