The Hollywood home of the late and great actress Elizabeth Taylor, where she lived for the last 30 years of her life, is up for sale for $8.6 million, her family has said.
Featuring a master suite second floor bedroom, the 7,000 square ft Bel-Air ranch style home sits on inside a 1.27 acre expanse of lush gardens that Taylor helped to design. Taylor, who died in March of this year, was said to have loved her home and its gardens more than any other possession.
“Her home was the focal point for all of our family get togethers, especially on days like Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving,” said the actresses’ son Christopher Wilding in a press release announcing the listing.
“Not once did she entertain the idea of moving.”
Built in 1960, the home was once lived in by Nancy Sinatra, the first wife of the legendary singer Frank Sinatra. The luxury property features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, spacious living and dining areas and a luxurious mosaic tile pool out the back.
The expansive estate meanwhile, features an array of different gardens, including a British-style lawn garden, a waterfall and koi pond, a rose garden, a palm and bamboo ‘jungle’ and even an orchid house.
“Mum simply adored her bedroom, surrounded as it is by nature. She loved the contrast of English flowers and wildness in the garden,” her son added.
“And she was very involved with the upkeep of the garden too – she wanted to see color all year round.”
